Installation Instructions for Microsoft Exchange 2010

The steps outlined below will assist you in installing an SSL certificate on Microsoft Exchange 2010. It is important to note that if you have multiple servers or devices, the certificate must be installed on each one that requires security.  If you haven't generated your certificate and finished the validation process yet, please refer to our CSR generation instructions before proceeding with the steps below.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR MICROSOFT EXCHANGE 2010:

  1. Obtain the SSL/TLS certificate from a trusted certificate authority. This can typically be done by generating a certificate signing request (CSR) on your Exchange server and submitting it to the certificate authority.
  2. Open the Exchange Management Console on the server where you want to install the certificate.
  3. Navigate to the Server Configuration, and then select the server that you want to install the certificate on.
  4. In the center pane, under the Server Overview section, click the link for the server that you want to install the certificate on.
  5. In the center pane, under the Server Certificates section, click the link for the server that you want to install the certificate on.
  6. On the Actions menu, click Import Exchange Certificate.
  7. In the Import Exchange Certificate wizard, click Browse, and then select the certificate file that you want to import. You should have the certificate file and the private key file.
  8. Click Next, and then follow the remaining prompts to complete the wizard.
  9. Once the certificate is imported, you will need to assign it to the appropriate services:
    1. Open the Exchange Management Console.
    2. Navigate to Server Configuration > Client Access.
    3. In the center pane, under the Outlook Web App section, click the server that you want to configure.
    4. On the Action menu, click the link for the server that you want to configure and then click Edit.
    5. Select the certificate that you imported and click on OK.
  10. Restart the Microsoft Exchange services and IIS Services.
